The Bicester Sub Aqua Club had a very successful training day at the Cromhall Quarry dive site in Gloucestershire. Sunday 14th August was one of the hottest days of this summer with shore side temperatures reaching 35 degrees. The water was a barmy 21 degrees. Training this day were 5 ocean diver trainees who were finishing or progressing their qualification. The instructors this day were Adrian Dodds and Adam Clamp.
After two great dives three of the trainees have successfully completed their Ocean Diver training. These were Andrew Herbert in the orange dry suit (“see me a mile off”), Seb Macgilchrist in the red dry suit and Jo Dyer with the pink fins. Our other two trainees, Gareth and Victoria Pickett have one last dive to do each which they hope to complete on the next opportunity when diving the Blue Lagoon on 31st August.
What a great day training and diving.
On a lighter issue. We had a new AOWI instructor helping out for the first time. Danna Aerts who was so focussed in making sure all her trainees were ready and on time for their first dive that when she eventually got in the water, needing to cool off in the heat, she dunked herself upder only to find she had forgotten to zip her dry suit up. Wosh of water later she could only laugh at her mistake. Good on you Danna.
