The season of activity nights continues on Monday 9th Feb. with a discussion by Tim on the SeaSearch project. As many of you know, Tim is a keen underwater photographer and spends a lot of time studying the wildlife most of us pass by on our dives. The SeaSearch project is a great cause and by participating you may not only assist the organisers and researcher but may also spend more time observing the wonderful underwater world.
The SeaSearch project is a volunteer project and is aimed at gaining a greater knowledge of the marine environment around the UK. The shear size of the task means that the only way it can be done is to pull on the resources and support of clubs and divers who dive these sometimes murky waters around our coastline.
SeaSearch dives are organised by SeaSearch local co-ordinators and this year (2009) run from 15th February - 28th September. A minimum qualification of BS-AC sports diver is required and will require you to record your findings and present them back to the project co-ordinators. This an much more information on the project will be covered in the evenings discussion.
The project is supported by a considerable number of national organisations include BS-AC.
Our last activity night on Knots which was presented by Alan, saw an unprecedented number of club member turn up. We're hoping that the SeaSearch presentation will attract a similar number of members.
As ever, refreshments will be available, along with club merchandise such as polo-shirts and t-shirts should you wish to purchase any or place and order for other items such as fleeces.
